Dr. Tyler Speelman is an experienced eye doctor at Professional Family Eyecare. His expertise spans across primary eye care, pediatric care, ocular disease management, and vision therapy. Dr. Speelman loves working with his patients, and he treats everyone like they’re a member of his own family.
Education
& Experience
Originally from Yorkshire, Ohio, Dr. Speelman received both his bachelor’s degree and Doctorate of Optometry from The Ohio State University. While working on his doctorate, Dr. Speelman worked as an optometric technician all the way through, learning how to conduct tests like OCT and Optomap, how to handle the administrative side, frame adjustments, and more. He spent more than a decade as a practicing optometrist, expanding and honing his skills in everything from pediatrics to high-quality primary care. And now, our staff and patients at Professional Family Eyecare get the benefit of his experience.
Dr. Speelman had poor vision that was left uncorrected while he was a kid, and when he finally received his first pair of contact lenses, he was amazed by how much his quality of life improved. This drive to offer patients relief and crisp vision led to him specializing in ocular disease management and contact lens fittings, including more difficult lenses like RGPs.

Get to Know Dr. Speelman
Outside of the office, Tyler leads an active life with his wife, Katie, and their three kids: Bella, Knox, and Gabby Jo. He serves as a community volunteer for Men’s Sodality and Real Eyes and enjoys running and reading in his free time.
